International Remote Collaboration
In September 2024, I worked with a United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime team in the Pacific Islands. The 10 hour time zone difference was the largest I'd worked with, and required very clear communication through each round of feedback in order to hit the deadline!
They sent me their Word document, which they wanted redesigning to include photos and graphics, and to ensure that it was in line with the UN branding. They wanted the final publication to be published both in print form, and online.
Culturally-appropriate Visuals
They had a vision for the final design, that it would have a very youthful feel, and a Pacific-Islands-style, all while complying with the UN brand guidelines. As a 40-year-old European woman, I am neither Pacific - nor particularly youthful - so I researched thoroughly, and collaborated closely with the local team to find the right images and illustrations to tell the story. I ensured that the images were cleared for editorial use and exported the report with appropriate bleed, trim and colour settings for print, and without bleeds with smaller file size for online publication.
They were really happy with the final result, which was published in their region with key impact goals on Pacific youths.
